Saturday Night's Main Event #3 Page 2

JYD runs and grabs Hart, so Funk comes out and he gets back body dropped on the floor, in a vicious bump. Funk back in and gets a JYD heabutt, but Funk fights back with right hands to the face, and a roundhouse left gets 2 1/2 on JYD. Sleeper by Funk, but JYD gets to the ropes to break, so Funk nails an elbow.

JYD off the ropes, Funk misses a clothesline and JYD gets a sleeper of his own. Hart gets on the apron, so JYD breaks the sleeper and brings Hart inside. While this happens, Funk grabs the megaphone, nails JYD from behind, and gets the three count. * then Funk grabs the branding iron, but JYD blocks it and nails Funk with it, then he catches Hart and drops him with a right hand.

JYD then headbutts Funk out and takes off Jimmy Hart's pants and brands him, to huge cheers. Commercial break.

We're back with HALLOWEEN CONTEST #1 - THE PIE EATING CONTEST. Two teams, Bobby Heenan's and Capt. Louis Albano's. Allow me to go through our characters:

RANDY SAVAGE as Tarzan, ELIZABETH as Jane, NIKOLAI VOLKOFF as Robin, IRON SHEIK as Batman, BOBBY HEENAN as Davy Crockett and KING KONG BUNDY as Abe Lincoln.
On the other side, HULK HOGAN as Hercules, the HILLBILLIES as The Three Musketeers, TITO SANTANA as Zorro, and CAPT LOU ALBANO as Julius Ceasar.

Albano and Bundy are the competitors in the pie-eating contest. Their teammates cheer them on as they make total messes of each other in the contest. Capt. Lou wins, and when Bundy finds out he throws his remaining pie in Albano's face. That was stupid.

PIPER'S PIT with the HILLBILLIES (Hillbilly Jim, Uncle Elmer and Cousin Junior)
We see Roddy Piper came out to try to break up the wedding, then we get the shot with Jesse's "two carp in the Mississippi River" comment. Piper and Bob Orton show up with the Hillbillies already in the ring. Piper offers his hand to Elmer, which gets ignored, then calls Jim Mrs. Elmer. Piper asks Elmer questions that are apparently "none of his business."

Jim stands up, then so does Elmer and Junior, and Piper says he didn't talk about carp, it was Jesse, but Piper agreed. Jim asks why Jesse doesn't come up and say it face-to-face, and off goes Jesse's jacket, then the headset and glasses, and here comes Jesse.

Piper and Jesse have the Hillbillies pissed, and some how Orton gets behind them and gets on his knees, and when Piper shoves Junior, he trips over Orton. So Jim nails Orton and Piper, then Elmer & Jim go after Jesse until he bails. Jese drops his hat, so Elmer goes "Junior! Stomp On That HAT!" Cute.

HALLOWEEN CONTEST #2 - GREAT PUMPKIN DUMP - Bobby Heenan vs. Cousin Junior. 200 pounds of chocolate syrup with pumpkins in there. JYD is dressed as a mummy, as Savage holds the bag for Heenan and JYD for Junior. Heenan gets seven, Junior gets four, so its Albano 1, Heenan 1, and the rubber match comes later. Break.

Back with what Vince calls "one of the greatest tag team matches ever." HA! Studd, Bundy and Heenan are with Mean Gene, and then they come to the ring. Then Mean Gene with "The Dream Team," Hogan, Andre & Lou. Andre says Hulk, enough talk, lets kick some butt.

--BIG JOHN STUDD & KING KONG BUNDY w/BOBBY HEENAN vs. HULK HOGAN & ANDRE THE GIANT w/CAPT. LOU ALBANO--
They make a big deal about calling the faces the Dream Team, which is funny, since Vince wouldn't call the legit Dream Team (Beefcake & Valentine, the tag team champions at this point) the Dream Team ever, but he calls these two it about 100 times. Well, the crowd is nutso into this, but its gonna be lucky to be *.

Hogan and Bundy start, they each shove each other, and a shoulderblock has no affect on Bundy, so Hogan with a knee, then he tries a bodyslam, but can't do it and Hogan with a right hand. Bundy misses a clothesline, two Hogan right hands, and a clothesline in the corner tags Andre in.

Andre chokes Bundy with his own strap for literally a minute, pissing Jesse off, then a tag to Hulk and a double axe handle off the middle ropes. Hogan then gets nailed by Studd as he goes after Bundy, and that gets the advantage to the heels. Studd tagged in, and he pounds away until Hogan hits an atomic back breaker, and a tag to Andre

Two big chops, then forearms by Andre, but one of them catches the referee. So Hogan and Bundy come in and we've got a brawl. Joey Marella in to check on the referee, and the faces drive the heels outside, drawing a commercial break.

Back, and Andre locks a bear hug on Studd, with Marella now your official. Big forearm by Andre, then Hogan gets a kick in and the he gets tagged in and a double chop. Hogan off the ropes and hits an elbow on Studd, then tags Andre, who nails a big foot, knocking Studd outside. Andre goes to the apron after Studd, but Bundy from behind with a right hand gets Andre caught in the ropes.

Hogan nails Bundy, then goes after Studd, but he trips him for Bundy's big splash. Then the heels double team Andre, and the bell rings for the DQ until Hogan from behind nails Bundy as Andre gets free, and Hogan with a big foot on Bundy and clothesline on Studd send the heels out. Faces by DQ, 1/2*.

Mean Gene in the ring with Hulk & Andre, and Andre says he didn't get enough and he ain't finished with those two. Then Hulk says they didn't play fairly, and Andre and Hulk compliment each other. The place goes nuts as they lift each other's hands. Vince is back with the Halloween party, and we see the first ever WWF music video, which can be see ONLY ON MTV!! It's pathetic in a music sense, but watching Gene and Vince getting into it and Piper think he's the stud, that and a music favorite of mine, Meat Loaf, is in it, gets me to laugh.

Mean Gene survived the video, and he asks Savage why he has a woman manager. "A man who asks that kind of a question is either a blind man or a stupid man, which are you Mean Gene!?" Gene is looking at Elizabeth, ignoring Vince, and Vince gets the line of the night. "I'll tell ya, Mean Gene never looked at Albano like that. Then again, Albano never looked like that either." Break.

--WWF Intercontinental Title Match
TITO SANTANA vs. RANDY SAVAGE w/ELIZABETH--
Back with more WWF action, as they lock up but break. Each man then blocks a right hand and Savage pisses off the crowd. Lockup, they roll around in the ropes, and Savage with a short right hand gets the advantage, a kick, then a snap mare and a knee to the throat. This should be a good match, as Santana goes to the buckle.

Savage misses an elbow, and his hip toss is turned into one for Santana, but Tito misses an elbow and Savage hits a middle rope double axe handle for only two, and a reverse chinlock. At this point, there's all the big bufoons in the WWF, and there's Savage and Santana. Tito could wrestle, and Savage is classic. Tito to his feet, but Savage brings him down with the hair.

Nobody knows quite what to think of Savage at this point, because he actually WRESTLES, as opposed to anybody not named Steamboat. Body slam by Savage, then he goes up top, but Santana with a fist to the gut, then he kicks away at the challenger. Three right hands knock Savage down as Jesse complains.

Bodyslam by the champ, and he goes off the ropes as Savage bails, which pisses off the crowd. Santana follows with two right hands, then they each get back in and go back out. Savage back in and catches Tito coming back in with a right hand. Savage tries a piledriver on the floor, but Santana blocks so Savage hits a kneelift, drawing a double countout. It was short, but made its point, **. Back after this.

Back, and we go to Roddy Piper's house for his Halloween. This is hilarious. Piper has posters of himself all over the place, and has huge candies for the kids. Huge candy apples, actually bowling balls, and chocolate bricks, or just bricks. McMahon calls Piper a native, so he does some dance for a minute. Then kids come and he drops the TRICKS in the bags of the kids' TREATS. Well, he did it last year, so the kids put chocolate hot peppers in the bags that drive Piper crazy. That part is stupid, but Piper going nuts on these kids is hilarious.

Hulk tells "Vicious Vince" that he loved the prior scene, as Mean Gene is in the dressing room of Mr. Fuji for the "Kung Fu Challenge." Fuji splits bricks and boards in two for Okerlund, and we are coming back with the challenge, NEXT!

--Kung Fu Challenge
MR. FUJI w/DON MURACO vs. RICKY STEAMBOAT--
Back and Okerlund interviews Steamboat, and we see what set this up, as Fuji and Muraco hang Steamboat over the top rope. The Dragon talks until he has said enough, and goes to the ring for the Kung Fu Challenge. Basically, this is just a karate match with a three count to win.

Bell rings, and Fuji has two chops blocker, then Steamboat with two tomahawk chops, an elbow, and an enziguri kick knocks Fuji down. Fuji with a low kick, then a headbutt to the Dragon's jewels, and a vicious knife-edge chop. The two then trade kicks, and Steamboat with a big chop, but Fuji again goes below the belt.

Karate thrust, then a nerve hold by Fuji, and while in it he throws Steamboat across the ring. Elbow by Fuji, then a karate thrust to the throat, and a crescent kick. Fuji tries a suplex, but Steamboat gets it instead. Then Steamboat goes up top, hits a missile dropkick, and gets the three count.

Muraco in from behind, and he sprays mist in Steamboat's eyes, and he pounds on Steamboat while Fuji holds him, then he kicks away at the Dragon, leaving him a blind mess in the ring. Well, it was a little different, but boring. *. Okerlund flirts back stage with Elizabeth as we go to break.

Back, and Vince and Jesse are back stage for:
HALLOWEEN CONTEST #3 - PUMPKIN PASS - Faces start. JYD to Tito, Tito to Junior, Junior to Jim, Jim to Albano, but Albano drops it. Somehow that's five, at least that's how Vince calls it. Whatever. Then Jesse joins Gene, and we have a new entrant....SUPER ROD! God this is hilarious. Roddy in a Superman suit, with an R instead of an S, of course. The heels cheat by using their hands - Bundy to Volkoff, Volkoff to Sheik, Sheik to Elizabeth, and Elizabeth to Roddy fails, as Savage has a royal fit. Break.

We're back, and Jesse says he and Piper want the Hillbillies in the ring next Saturday Night's Main Event. Another break. Back again, and Jesse complains about not having any fun, and he and Vince say goodbye.

*****Well, its the beginning of Macho Madness, and has a decent Savage-Santana match. Also, the cool Hillbillies-Piper/Jesse angle continues. Nothing over ** on this tape, as there were chances for things, but those didn't have enough time. Well, storyline wise its important, but its nothing to get excited about. It's *1/2 on wrestling, but the Piper hilariousness gets it to **. So, ** for Saturday Night's Main Event #3, from November 1985.*****
