PNW #23 Page #2

IMO it was unfortunate that whoever had the stroke at this time, Billy Jack and Rip I am looking at you, kept Mega in the mid card and he never got into any high profile feuds, personally I think he could have had a good feud with local boys like Matt Borne and Billy Jack Haynes at the top of cards, and these would have really drawn, especially in the small towns of the Northwest.  However it was not to be, and soon Ed left the PNW for the AWA and the character of Colonel Debeers.

As the Colonel, Ed had one more run in the PNW functioning mostly as muscle, think Orton and Piper, and the character never really caught on in the PNW, if it ever did anywhere.  Part of the problem was the days of the racist heel was beginning to fade and Wiskoski was not able to get this character over.  Even as Colonel Debeers, Wiskoski was able to use current events to cut some decent promos.  One memorable one was a call for discipline just after Ted Bundy was executed.  The Colonel pointed out that in his opinion Bundy did not get the needed discipline when he was young, therefore he ended up deranged.

He pointed out that the Barr family had much in common with the Bundy's in that they did not discipline their children which is how Art Barr had transformed into Beetlejuice, one of the problems with the Debeers character is that Ed's sense of humor came through a character that should have had no sense of humor at all. The big man's humor worked with the cocky Polish Prince and the holy Mega Maharishi but with Debeers it fell flat.

While I do not know what Wiskoski is up to these days, I have heard teaching, racetrack security and some kind of financier, one thing I am pretty sure of is that he is having plenty of laughs at the expense of those around him.
