On the 3/80 Capitol Centre, Largo, MD card, "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas defeated Bobby Duncum. Intercontinental champion Pat Patterson faced his former manager, Lou Albano, in a grudge match. WWF champion Bob Backlund faced a tough challenge from Hulk Hogan. 

On 4/12/80 in Philadelphia, PA, the Wild Samoans defeated Tito Santana and Ivan Putski for the WWF tag team belts. WWF champion Bob Backlund again defended the belt successfully against Hulk Hogan. In the main event, Bruno Sammartino faced Larry Zybysko in a Texas Death match.

On the 4/80 Baltimore, MD card, new WWF tag team champions, the Wild Samoans, defended the belts against former champions, Tito Santana and Ivan Putski.  Bruno Sammartino battled Ken Patera.

On 4/21/80 the WWF returned to Madison Square Garden, NYC. AWA star Greg Gagne came to NY to defeat Jose Estrada. Dominic Dennucci squared off against "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe. Mid-Atlantic stars Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood came north to the Garden to defeat Tor Kamata and Bulldog Brower.  The returning Pedro Morales defeated Afa the Samoan. Tony Atlas defeated Sika the Samoan. Ken Patera defeated Pat Patterson for the Intercontinental title.  Soon after winning the Intercontinental title, Ken Patera faced Tony Atlas in a televised arm wrestling match. Just as it seemed that Atlas was going to win, Patera picked up a chair and hit Atlas over the head with it. The feud between the two strongmen was on, with the Intercontinental title belt at stake.

On 5/19/80 the WWF returned to Madison Square Garden. Larry Zybysko won a battle royal. Tony Atlas, Ivan Putski and Pat Patterson defeated WWF champions the Wild Samoans and "High Chief" Peter Maivia. In the main event, WWF champion Bob Backlund battled Ken Patera in a Texas Death match that was the Observer's match of the year for 1980.

On 5/31/80 at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD, Bobby Duncum defeated Dominic Denucci. Frenchman Rene Goulet faced Sika the Samoan. Tor Kamata, managed by Fred Blassie was on the undercard. Ivan Putski faced Afa the Samoan. Larry Zybysko battled Pat Patterson and Intercontinental champion Ken Patera defended the belt against Tony Atlas.

On 6/7/80 in Baltimore, MD, Baron Miguel Scicluna, Manuel Soto, Larry Sharpe and "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd, managed by the Grand Wizard were on the undercard.  WWF tag team champions, the Wild Samoans, defended the belts against Rene Goulet and Pat Patterson. In the main event, Bruno Sammartino faced Larry Zybysko.

On 6/27/80 at theCapitol Centre in Largo, MD, Hulk Hogan defeated Dominic Denucci. WWF champion Bob Backlund defeated Afa the Samoan. In the main event, Ken Patera defended the Intercontinental title against Tony Atlas in a match that had special referee Gorilla Monsoon.
