Pittsburgh/Buffalo/Cleveland Intro Page #2

Powers was the life blood behind the NWF and would trade the title along the way with Johnny Valentine, and Waldo von Erich, while in the mean time wrestlers like Ernie Ladd, Victor Rivera, DeNucci and Abdullah the Butcher would hold the belt. NWF also had a continuous tag title lineage and many great teams such as the Fargo Brothers, The Mongols, and Tony Parisi and Dominic DeNucci would hold these belts. The North American Belt would first appear in 1972 with Powers, Ladd, Von Erich, Ox Baker, Killer Karl Krupp and Eric the Animal all holding the belt. Buffalo and Cleveland would be the main stays in this promotion with shows in Cincinnati, Akron, Erie, PA and other towns surrounding Lake Erie. A lot of talent would trade back and forth with Pittsburgh and with the NWF with Detroit as well.

The Sheik and Bobo Brazil were regulars here as well. This promotion also had strong ties with Japan and Antonio Inoki would appear as well as Johnny Powers and other NWF wrestlers appearing in Japan. Wrestlers like Lil' Abner, Chief White Owl, Gino Brito, Tony Parisi, were regulars in this area.
