JCP #6 Page #2

The next match is one I'm including strictly because it's a familiar name, Cactus Jack. Cactus was doing a gimmick where he'd fight in a tag team match and turn on his various partners after they lost. This and the commentary of Kevin Sullivan, Jim Cornette, and Jim Ross got him over huge with the 1990 NWA fans. Cactus Jack was taking on Mil Mascaras a Mexican wrestling legend. The match was for the most part Cactus selling moves and making Mil look good but as they got to the floor Cactus went to the apron for his famous elbow and while he wasn't looking Mil climbed back in and dropkicked him off and he smacked his head on the concrete floor. Mil rolled him up for an easy three count.  But Jack wasn't done yet... The NWA had hired a band to entertain the crowd and Cactus went over to attack the singer only to get beat again by the bands drummer.

The NWA tag team titles were up for grabs as Rick and Scott Steiner put their belts up against the masks of Doom. Doom was made up of two large wrestlers who were brought in by Woman aka Nancy Sullivan. The fact that NWA only employed three black wrestlers and one who left before this show didn't help protect their identity. Ron Simmons and Butch Reed were unmasked and the Steiners kept the belts.

The main event was a cage match featuring the Horsemen vs. Muta/Sawyer/Dragon Master. The crowd was so hot at the Horsemen for booting Sting out that they cheered the heel team. During the match Sting came out to get a piece of Flair and as the match ended when Arn pinned Dragon Master. Sting who's knee was hurt in angle only dropped off the cage and legit tore some ligaments. He was out till June. Lex Luger got his place for the world title shot making him unavailable to drop the US title to Doc and Doc left for Japan. Ironic that NWA tried to hurt Sting's knee for an angle and Sting does it for real by himself.

The other matches on the card were:

Tom Zenk and Brian Pillman defeating the MOD Squad
Norman the Lunatic beating Kevin Sullivan
Road Warriors and Sky Scrapers fought to a Double DQ

NEXT MONTH:

A look at the wrestler who the NWA missed the boat on by not having him fight Flair but join the Horsemen: Barry Windham
