Suddenly Brisco's talking is drowned out by a lot of yelling and banging on the desk by Dusty Rhodes as he and Dick Slater appear on the set.  Rhodes is decked out in a Black Tuxedo complete with Top Hat and Tails. 

Rhodes:  SOLIE LetMeTellYaSumthin' BRISCOOOO.
THAT WAS JUST A EXAMPLE WHAT I BEEN TALKIN' ABOUT MAN   
DA PEEEPULLL CANNOT BELIEEEEVE WHAT JUST WENT ON BRISCO.   
YOU MOVE PRETTY GOOD for a SQWAWWWW BABY CANYA DIG-IT! 
YOU MOVE PRETTY GOOD, THAT'S NO MAN!
MY MAN, RIGHT HERE , THE GREAT ROOKIE, COULD BEAT YOU IN THAT TYPE OF WHATEVERITWAS!
THAT AIN'T RASSLIN' BABY WHAT I'M DOIN' IS RASSLIN'
WHAT I'M PUTTIN' ON YA'S RASSLIN'
WHAT YOU DOIN' IS TRAAASH,

Brisco:  You're big with the mouth Rhodes, you wanna try it up in the ring?   C'mon Rhodes, let's try it up in the ring! (Brisco heads for the ring, the crowd starts cheering Brisco.)

RHODES:  YOU CAN'T BEAT THE MAN!   YOU CAN'T BEAT THE MAN -- WAIT A MINUTE, YOU CAN'T BEAT THE MAN!  (Rhodes and Slater have a small huddle type conference, Slater heads towards the ring.  Brisco has the crowd stomping their feet and makin' lots of noise.  Rhodes comes back to the desk!

RHODES:  HERE IT SOLEYYY!  I GOT IT, I GOT MY MOVEMENT GOIN' HERE IT.
I GOT IT
GO SLATER GO!
GO SLATER GO!
WE GONNA BEAT EM OUT THERE AND I'M GON' GO UP THERE AND
SUPERVISE THE WHOLE THANG CANYADIG-IT
I'M GON' SUPERVISE THE WHOLE THANG!

(Brisco gets down on "all fours" in the center of the ring.  When Slater gets in the Ring, Rhodes climbs in and acts as referee, still wearing his complete Top Hat and Tails Tuxedo.)  Solie continues -

Solie:  Well, Jack has a volatile temper.  He's offering Slater a down position, there goes Dick Slater.  Slater trying to maintain a ride, Brisco Escaping........ Brisco maintaining a ride on this young Dick Slater.............Uh Oh,   Brisco's got him in a three quarter nelson, he's got him upside down and (Rhodes runs across the ring and elbows the World Champion) OOOOOO .  
DUSTY RHODES JUST CAME DOWN ACROSS THE BACK OF THE HEAD OF JACK BRISCO......... RHODES...... CATCHES HIM AGAIN!   Ah NO!  (Slater counts 1-2-3 as Rhodes pins Brisco).  Dick Slater out there with a count.  
(Rhodes heads back to the desk).
 
Rhodes:  HE'S HURT!  HE'S HURT!   GOOD LORD HEY!
I JUST BEAT THE WORLD!  I JUST BEAT THE WORLD BABY I BEAT 'EM!
I BEAT 'EM WITH MY HAT ONNNN  CANYADIG-IT!
I BEAT THE MAN!  IT'S NO LONGER JACK BRISCO, YOU THRILLED TO DEATH I KNOW IT BROTHER!
Let's get a look at him', let's get a play by play here..... Look, he's hurt!  He's Hurt, CAUSE I GAVEM THE ELBOWWW!      AND I'M THE WORLD'S CHAMPION!  AND I BEAT THE SQWAWWW, WITH MY HAT ON!

Solie:  Jack Brisco being helped from the ring... We'll be back.

Upon return, Solie starts recapping what happened, calling it a Pearl Harbor attack and Rhodes interrupts abruptly:

Rhodes: SOLEY I'M HERE BROTHER.  CAUSE I'M THE KING NOWWWW!   I GOT IT DOWN NOWWW!  I BEAT THE SQUAWW BABY CANYADIG-IT - WE ALL HAPPAYY NOW!  
I KNOW THAT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WANNA SEE THAT MILLION DOLLAR SMILE ON THE WORRRRRRLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION FROM TEXAS SQUAWWBOYYYY  LOOKEEHERE!   (smiles at camera).  I'M EXCITED YOU EXCITED BROTHER LET ME TELL YA WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!
I TOLD YA I COULD BEAT CASCIOUS CLAY, OUTRUN JIM RYYYYAN,
SING BETTER THAN JOHNNY CASH, FIGHT BETTER THAN MOST MEN CAN WALK!
I BREEEEEEEETHE VIOLENCE, I BREEEEEEETHE EXCITEMENT.  and I laid it on 'em when the time was right....  I brought myself downnnn, and the thang Iyuzzzzz, I did not Evunnnnn Takeoffmy'at.  I did not Evunnn Take off my lid brother.  The people wanna see me now, so I'm gon' go out and talk to 'em over here! 

Soon after this, Dusty Rhodes began calling himself "The American Dream".   Solie would refer to him as the "Self Proclaimed American Dream" as loyal "good guy" fans still hated him more than ever.

When manager Playboy Gary Hart came to Florida, Rhodes soon became an integral part of "Gary Hart & his Army".  He often tag teamed with Korean wrestler Pak Song.  Pak Song was known for his martial arts abilities, breaking wood and cement blocks with his bare hands, as well as a devastating "claw hold".    Rhodes and Pak Song were wreaking havoc throughout the State of Florida.

When Rhodes and Pak Song went up against Eddie and Mike Graham, an altercation between Rhodes and Gary Hart occurred.  Hart got mad and motioned for Pak Song to attack Rhodes.  He repeatedly Karate chopped him on the head until he was covered with blood and begging for mercy.

From that day forward everyone started calling Dusty Rhodes "The American Dream".   His career took off like never before as he battled against Gary Hart and his Army, Ox Baker, Superstar Billy Graham and a host of others.  He had a charisma like nobody else and the fans who once hated him became his biggest supporters.

I find it interesting that, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only "turn" that Rhodes ever took.  At least in Florida, he never went back to being a "Heel".   He always remained a charismatic fan favorite that Championship Wrestling From Florida fans will never forget!
